“Two Black Cadillacs” Drives Carrie Underwood To Her 17th No. 1 Hit
No. 1 Comes On The Heels Of ACM Performance Announcement And Nominations For Female Vocalist Of The Year And Album Of The Year
Superstar Carrie Underwood’s latest single “Two Black Cadillacs” drove straight to the No. 1 spot this week on the Mediabase country airplay charts, giving Carrie her 17th No. 1 single, and her 8th No. 1 as a songwriter. The third single off Blown Away, “Two Black Cadillacs” was written by Carrie, Josh Kear, and Hillary Lindsey, and was recently certified Gold by the RIAA. The video for “Two Black Cadillacs” was No. 1 on this weekend’s GAC’s Top 20 Countdown, for a total of three weeks at the top spot.
Carrie’s 17th No 1. comes on the heels of her performance announcement for the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, where she is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year for the eighth consecutive year and Album of the Year for Blown Away. Having won a total of ten ACM Awards, Underwood is also a two-time Entertainer of the Year winner. In 2010, she was honored with the ACM Triple Crown, an award presented to an elite group of country music artists who boast wins for New Artist, Male/Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year.
Blown Away made history last year by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart making Carrie only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1. Blown Away also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart making Carrie only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1. At the time of release Blown Away became country’s best-selling digital album debut since 2010. The first single off Blown Away, “Good Girl,” has been certified platinum and reached No. 1 on the country airplay charts, as did the title-track, “Blown Away,” which was recently recognized for 2 million sales. The videos for both songs also reached #1 on CMT’s Top 20 with “Good Girl” spending a record setting 14 weeks at #1.
