Carrie Speaks About ACM Nominations
“I am so humbled and blessed with the recognition of these nominations by my fellow artists and the country music community,” says Underwood. “My band, crew, and everyone on my team have worked so hard the past year with my first big tour, so the Entertainer nomination is especially rewarding for all of us. I think I’m still in shock!”
Underwood is the first solo female artist to be nominated in the ACM Entertainer of The Year category since 2000. Women who have won the Entertainer of The Year award in the past include Loretta Lynn (1975), Dolly Parton (1977), Barbara Mandrell (1980), Reba McEntire (1994), Shania Twain (1999), and Dixie Chicks (2000).
Underwood is a six-time ACM winner including a two-year reign as Top Female Vocalist. The 44th Annual ACM Awards will broadcast live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 8:00pm live ET on the CBS Television Network.
