Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” Becomes Country’s First RIAA-Certified Double-Platinum Digital Single!
“Jesus, Take the Wheel” Earns Platinum Digital Single Certification
Nashville, TN – Two-time GRAMMY winner, ACM Top Female Vocalist, and back-to-back CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Carrie Underwood achieves a historic first as her five-week #1 smash, “Before He Cheats,” becomes the first country song to earn RIAA certification as a Double-Platinum Digital Single (recognizing two million purchased downloads). At the same time, her multi-award-winning country debut, “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” garners a Platinum Digital Single certification.
The Digital Single milestone for “Before He Cheats” reflects the amazing and continued success of the song, which earned multiple nominations for the upcoming 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards, including Best Country Song and Song of the Year (for writers Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins). Underwood, last year’s Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance winner, is nominated in the latter category for “Before He Cheats,” as well as Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for “Oh Love” with Brad Paisley (from Paisley’s album, 5th Gear.)
In addition to her nominations, Underwood has been announced to perform on the GRAMMY Awards telecast, airing live on Sunday, February 10, from 8-11:30 PM ET/PT, on CBS Television.
Both “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus, Take the Wheel” are from Carrie’s 6x-Platinum, ACM Album of the Year winner, Some Hearts.
