Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” Tops the Country Airplay Charts for a Second Week!
Underwood’s Back-to-Back No. 1 Airplay Singles Make Her Country’s Only Female Vocalist of 2012 to Achieve Three Weeks at No. 1
Carrie Underwood’s chart-topping single, “Blown Away,” continues as country radio’s hottest song, as it claims a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard and Country Aircheck country airplay charts this week. The second single from Underwood’s million-selling Blown Away album, the title track follows the No. 1 success of her album’s debut single, “Good Girl,” earning Underwood a total of three weeks atop the country airplay charts in 2012, more than any other female country artist this year.
The newly Platinum-certified “Blown Away” marks Underwood’s 16th No. 1 single while the song’s dramatic music video also continues to be a runaway fan-favorite, with more than 5 million views to date on VEVO and a run of 10 consecutive weeks atop GAC’s fan-selected Top 20 Country Countdown.
Between dates headlining her third arena tour, “The Blown Away Tour,” she’ll return to Nashville to join Brad Paisley to host The 46th Annual CMA Awards, where Carrie is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. This year’s show will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Thursday, November 1, at 8 PM ET, on ABC.
In addition to her CMA nomination for Female Vocalist, Underwood is also a double-nominee for the upcoming American Music Awards, up for Favorite Female Artist – Country, as well as Favorite Album – Country, for Blown Away. Airing November 18 on ABC, the American Music Awards are fan-voted, with online balloting underway now at http://AMAVote.com.
Blown Away made history this spring by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1. Blown Away also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, making Carrie only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1. Blown Away became country’s best-selling digital album debut since 2010. “Good Girl,” her first single from Blown Away, also achieved the No. 1 slot on both Billboard and Country Aircheck’s country airplay charts, was certified Platinum for selling more than 1 million digital downloads, and the video set a new record with 14 weeks at No. 1 on CMT’s Top 20.
Since releasing her debut, Some Hearts, in 2005, Carrie has sold more than 15 million albums with Some Hearts, 2007’s Carnival Ride, and 2009’s Play On making her the best-selling American Idol in the U.S. She’s accumulated 16 No. 1 singles, seven of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums. She is a five-time Grammy winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry.
